Background Information:

The Board’s current attendance policy (see attached) does not provide updated information concerning state mandated tests. The amended policy would include the policy for making up missed tests and the percentage the tests count towards the students' grades. Also, the amended policy would update tardies. Now, schools will accept six (6) parent notes (three (3) per semester) per school year for excused tardies. Every five unexcused tardies will count as one full unexcused day.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the proposed attendance policy on first reading.
